The Journey
Day 1
Kilimanjaro Airport → Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Atlas Tanzania Adventures representative and transferred privately to your hotel in Arusha.
Take the evening to relax and settle in before your safari adventure begins.
Day 2
Arusha → Ndutu
Into the Calving Season
After breakfast, depart Arusha and travel towards the Ndutu area, located in the southern Serengeti ecosystem.
Upon arrival, begin your first game drive through the Ndutu plains. During the calving season, the landscape comes alive with vast herds of wildebeest, newborn calves and an impressive concentration of predators.
Keep an eye out for lions, cheetahs, hyenas and other wildlife drawn to the area by the abundance of young animals.
Continue your game drive before heading to your accommodation for the evening.
Day 3
Full Day In Ndutu
Witness the Miracle of New Life
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the Ndutu plains.
Set out for a full day of game viewing, following the movements of the herds and searching for newborn wildebeest calves taking their first steps.
The calving season attracts an incredible variety of predators, creating some of the most dramatic wildlife encounters in Tanzania. Your private safari guide will follow wildlife movements and adapt the day's route to maximise your opportunities for memorable sightings.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before continuing your game drive through the afternoon.
Day 4
Full Day In Ndutu
Into the Heart of the Wild
Spend another full day exploring Ndutu and its surrounding plains.
The additional time allows you to experience the area at a slower pace and increases your chances of witnessing the fascinating interactions between predators and prey during this extraordinary season.
Depending on wildlife movements, you may encounter large herds of wildebeest and zebra, gazelles, elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs and hyenas.
Your guide will help you understand the seasonal movements and behaviour of the animals, making each game drive more than just a wildlife viewing experience.
Day 5
Ndutu → Ngorongoro Crater → Karatu
From the Calving Plains to the Crater
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive as you leave Ndutu and continue towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive on the crater floor. Often described as one of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations, the crater is home to an extraordinary concentration of animals.
Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos and many other species as you explore the crater surrounded by dramatic volcanic landscapes.
After your crater experience, ascend and continue to Karatu, where you will spend your final evening relaxing at your lodge.
Day 6
Karatu → Kilimanjaro International Airport
Farewell to Tanzania
After breakfast, depart Karatu and begin your journey back towards Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
As your safari comes to an end, take with you unforgettable memories of the Ndutu calving season, the incredible wildlife of the Serengeti ecosystem and the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.
